Elgin teen killed in Moree e-bike crash leaves family shocked

The family of a teenager killed in a collision between an e-bike and four cars say they are shocked by the youngster’s death.

Elgin teen Marcus Beck, 17, and a 16-year-old boy were pronounced dead at the scene of a crash in Mali Monday night.

These teenagers are on the back of electric bikes.

In a statement released through police ScotlandMr Baker’s family said: “Marcus was a young man who loved hanging out with his friends.

“He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

“We can’t explain how shocking this is for everyone and we hope there will be time to come to terms with what has happened.”

The incident involved a Sur-Ron e-bike, a blue Vauxhall Mokka, a red Renault Clio, a black Vauxhall Corsa and a white Volkswagen Golf.

The 14-year-old boy riding the bike suffered serious injuries and was taken to Gray Doctors Hospital in Elgin. His condition is described as stable.

The 54-year-old male driver of the Vauxhall Mokka was also taken to hospital.

No one else was injured in the incident.

The accident happened at around 8pm on the A941 from Lossiemouth to Elgin Road at its junction with the B9135.

The road was closed for the investigation and eventually reopened around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Sergeant Ian Nicholson said: “Our thoughts are with the families and friends of all those involved.

“This incident has also impacted the wider community and this is a very disturbing and difficult time for everyone.

“Our investigation into this incident is ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who has not yet spoken to police and anyone who can help our inquiries to come forward.

“If you have dash cam information or saw anything at the time of the accident that could assist police please contact us.”
