The Center launched PM Surya Ghar in February 2024 with a target of rooftop solar (RTS) installation in one crore homes in the residential sector by financial year 2026-27. 75,021 crores.
“By December 9, 2025, a total of 19,45,758 RTS (rooftop solar) systems have been installed across the country, benefiting 24,35,196 households,” Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
According to their response, this scheme resulted in zero electricity bill for 7,71,580 households.
Central financial assistance under the scheme Rs 13,926.25 crore has been released, while 8,30,617 loan applications have been approved till December 9, 2025.
In another reply, the Minister informed the House that the PM-KUSUM scheme has empowered farmers as ‘Urjadata’, and has crossed the mark of 20 lakh beneficiaries.
Under Component A of the scheme, farmers have been enabled to adopt solar energy, become Urjadata with Annadata and increase their income.
Farmers can lease their land for setting up solar power plants and earn up to ₹80,000/hectare/year. For plants commissioned under Component A, the average revenue is ₹4.5 lakh/MW per month.
Under Component B, existing diesel pumps are replaced with solar pumps. Consumption of 4.6 liters per day (for 5 HP pump) and current diesel cost is approx. At Rs 87/litre, farmers can earn profits in less than a year. This saves farmers at least ₹60,000 per year.
Under Component C, farmers can earn ₹25,000/acre/year by leasing land for setting up solar projects.
In another written reply on the National Green Hydrogen Mission, the Minister informed the House that under the Incentive Scheme for Electrolyzer Manufacturing, a total manufacturing capacity of 3,000 MW per year has been provided to 15 companies. The total incentive given is ₹4,440 crore.
The minister said that under the incentive scheme for green hydrogen production, a cumulative production capacity of 8,62,000 tonnes per year has been provided to 18 companies.
Under the incentive scheme for procurement of green hydrogen for refineries, a total capacity of 20,000 tonnes per annum has been awarded to 2 companies.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has approved four Hydrogen Valley Innovation Clusters (HVICs) namely Jodhpur HVIC, Pune HVIC, Bhubaneswar HVIC and Kerala HVIC under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, the minister said in another written reply.
