Election Commission Deputy Chairman informs the program for election

The Election Commission of India (ECI) informed the program for the election of the vice -president of India. Poll, if the election is contested, will be held on September 9 between 10 am and 5 pm on the first floor of Parliament House.

According to the press note by ECI, the place to give nomination papers to RO/ARO RO, Room No. RS-28 is the office of first floor, Parliament House, New Delhi.

Nomination papers can be filed between 11 am and 3 pm before August 21.
“Date and time to give nomination papers: No day (other than public holiday) not from 11 am to 3 pm. Not later from 21.08.2025. Security deposits: Rs 15,000, with RO or in the Reserve Bank’s Reserve Bank or Government Treasury either to deposit in cash,” reads the press notes.

The required documents along with the nomination papers include a certified copy of the entry related to the candidate in the electoral roll for the parliamentary constituency, in which the candidate is registered as an electoral and security deposit.

“Place of checking nomination papers: Room No.-100, Sangoshthi-2, First Floor, Parliament House, New Delhi. Date and time of investigation papers: 22.08.2025 am,” said the notification.

The ECI said, “If the election election is contested, the pole will be taken between 09.09.2025 to 5 pm, Room Number F -101, Vasudha, First Floor, Parliament House, New Delhi, which is according to the Commission’s notifications as per 07.08.2025.”

Earlier on August 1, the Election Commission announced that the voting to elect the vice -president of India would be held on 9 September and there will be counting on the same day.
The last day of filing nomination for the post of Vice President is 21 August. Candidates can be withdrawn by 25 August.

The post of Vice President was vacant after Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned by Jagdeep Dhankhar, citing health reasons on 21 July on the first day of the monsoon Parliament session on 21 July.

“To prefer health care and follow medical advice, I resign as the vice -president of India, immediately effective, according to Article 67 (A) of the Constitution,” read in the resignation letter of Dhankhar. (AI)
