Education Minister says that school time can be reviewed

Baramulla, 09 July (KDC): Education Minister Sakina Itu on Wednesday indicated that the government may reconsider the revised school timing launched after the summer break after the better weather conditions and the response of the parents.

Talking to the media during his visit to Baramullah, Itu accepted the concerns expressed by the public in the early school hours. He explained that the decision to move the first school time was taken to protect the health of students during the intense heat in the valley.

“We were facing one of the harsh mantras of heat in recent memory. Adjustment in time was a preventive step to protect children from purely issues related to heat,” he said.

Recently thanking the Almighty for the fall of rainfall and temperature, the minister said, “We were all praying for relief from the heat, and thankfully the weather has improved.”

He further assured that the department is actively listening to the concerns raised by parents and teachers. He said, “Our top priority is to ensure that the education of children continues smoothly, without risking their rest or welfare. On the basis of the response and changing season, we are open to review the current program,” he said.

The minister said that any future changes will be done with a balanced approach, which will ensure both educational continuity and student welfare. (KDC)
