Edinburgh Airport temporarily suspends all flights After the diversion of one this afternoon British Airways plane.

According to the airline, a “technical issue” was identified by the pilots, prompting them to issue the 7700 emergency squawk code.
The 7700 squawk code is an aviation signal to air traffic control that an aircraft needs priority handling.
The London-bound Airbus A320 took off from Edinburgh at 11.13am for the one-and-a-half hour journey.
The Scottish airport shared a statement on social media at 1.10pm: “Operations are currently suspended while teams respond to the issue with the aircraft. The aircraft landed safely and remains on the runway.
“Passengers are being taken back to the terminal via coaches and teams are carrying out inspections before operations resume. Updates will follow.”
Inbound and outbound flights to the airport were suspended for approximately 40 minutes while “the aircraft was removed from the runway by the airline’s handling agent and moved to a stand”.
In a subsequent update Edinburgh Airport announced that operations had resumed following this afternoon’s incident.
It added: “Safety is always paramount and we would like to thank passengers for their patience and understanding. Thank you also to our teams who responded and worked to resume operations.”
A British Airways spokesperson said Independent: “The aircraft returned safely to Edinburgh Airport after our pilots discovered a technical problem shortly after take-off.
“We have apologized to our customers for the disruption to their journeys and our teams are working hard to get them on their way as soon as possible.”
The incident is the second time in a week that operations in Edinburgh have been suspended.
All flights stopped at Edinburgh Airport on Friday due to an IT issue with air traffic control.,
The airport reported on social media platform X that the outage was a local issue, and advised customers to contact their airline for information about their flight.
