ED files charge sheet against Robert Vadra in money laundering case

The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday (November 20) filed a chargesheet against businessman Robert Vadra in a Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case linked to UK-based arms consultant Sanjay Bhandari case, officials told PTI.

Charge sheet was filed against Vadra in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court. The court will hear this matter on December 6.

The agency had questioned Vadra for five hours in July in connection with the case. Two properties owned by Bhandari at 19, Bryanston Square and Grosvenor Hill Court, 13, Borden Street in London are the subject of concern in this case. ED has argued that these are benami properties of Vadra.

Vadra has denied that he owns any London property, directly or indirectly.

These two London properties are among the few properties being investigated by the ED as “proceeds of crime” under the PMLA.

Bhandari, whose extradition request has been rejected by a UK court, was declared a fugitive economic offender by a Delhi court in July.

The 63-year-old arms consultant had fled to London soon after the Income Tax Department raid in Delhi in 2016.
