Bengaluru, Nov 14 (IANS) Karnataka Congress MLC BK Hariprasad on Friday said the Election Commission of India (ECI) is working like a unit of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and has ensured the NDA’s victory.
He said, “The irony is that this is a wonderful result. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Election Commission of India for these results. I congratulate the agency. The names of about 65 lakh voters in Bihar were removed from the voter list and these results are the performance of the Election Commission.”
Hariprasad said that the Election Commission is working like a unit of the RSS to destroy all democratic norms and practices.
He said, “BJP is a political party linked to RSS. ECI is engaged in destroying the democratic system of the country. If they have removed the names of 65 lakh voters during the state assembly elections, then it would not be an exaggeration to say that this is a remarkable work of the Election Commission.”
Asked about people not reacting to the agitation launched by Congress and India Bloc allies regarding the Special Intensive Review (SIR) process, Hariprasad said that when people were not even allowed to cast their votes, no conclusion can be drawn from their reaction.
“If people had been allowed to exercise their franchise, the results would have been different,” he said.
He further alleged that the main objective of removing 65 lakh names from the voter list was to ensure that those opposing the BJP do not get a chance to vote. He said, the Election Commission has performed brilliantly in this context and he wants to congratulate them.
Reacting to the setback suffered by the Grand Alliance in the Bihar Assembly elections, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that it will have to bow before the people’s mandate.
Commenting on the Bihar Assembly election results, Deputy Chief Minister and Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar said that whatever mandate the public has given, we will accept it.
“We will use this as a lesson to formulate a new strategy for the future,” he said.
