Oberman described her return to the BBC soap as “a huge pleasure”, marking her reunion with Michelle Ryan, 41, and Kim Medcalf, who played Sam Mitchell. “I spent a lot of time with him during my short but mighty tenure on EastEnders,” he recalled.

“It was really emotional to be back at The Queen Vic with Michelle and Kim. We kept hugging each other and discussing how a whole life has gone by since the last time we were together, and there was so much more, including sharing photos of the kids and talking about how our lives have evolved over the last 20 years.”
