As Earth Day approaches, Google has announced a new mapping feature that will make it easy for electric car owners to find charging stations. The feature will be available in Google Maps and Search, allowing users to get useful information about electric vehicle charging stations. Not so, the Navigation app is rolling out a series of app updates to make it even smarter.

Electric vehicles are just beginning to gain traction among car owners, making them a highly unique vehicle. Therefore, finding the nearest electric car charging station can become daunting, especially when planning a long trip. As a result, Google will bring AI-powered summaries to Google Maps, allowing users to get information about station locations, user reviews, wait times, plug types and more. Google says, “With these updates, you can easily find specific information about electric vehicle charger locations, charging stations when planning a road trip, and more.”

In addition, Google will also provide detailed information on the nearest charging stations during the trip based on the remaining battery power of the electric car. This information will be displayed on an in-car map along with “information such as real-time port availability and charging speeds.” Google emphasized that these features will soon be rolled out to users around the world. This way, EV owners won’t have to worry about long journeys as Google Maps will provide battery information and charging station locations.

Finally, Google Maps will launch a new feature called “EV filter” at google.com/travel, where users can find hotels that offer on-site electric vehicle charging, making it easy to find a place to stay after a long day of driving .
