Tirupati:

Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and film actress Jaya Prada on Wednesday said she wants to “participate” in the upcoming Andhra Pradesh elections, adding that it all depends on the BJP leadership decision.

“I hope to contest the Andhra Pradesh elections, it all depends on the decision of the party hierarchy,” Jaya Prada told reporters after visiting the Tirumala temple on her birthday.

However, she is unlikely to be fielded from Andhra Pradesh either in the upcoming Assembly elections or in the Lok Sabha elections by the BJP as the party has already announced its candidate list for both elections.

The BJP is facing elections in the state in alliance with TDP and Janasena. As part of the seat-sharing agreement between these parties, the BJP will contest six Lok Sabha seats and 10 Assembly seats.

The TDP will contest from 144 Assembly seats and 17 Assembly seats, while Janasena will contest from 2 Assembly seats and 21 Assembly seats.

Elections for 175 assembly seats and 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh will be held simultaneously on May 13, and the results will be announced on June 4.

Jaya Prada also said she hopes to be a star campaigner for NDA candidates in the state.

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said his party Janasena and the BJP have formed an alliance to stop the YSRCP government led by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy atrocities.

The TDP chief is also confident of his alliance’s victory in the upcoming Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, which will be held simultaneously in the state on May 13.

Addressing a public rally here, Chandrababu Naidu said, “Be it Rayalaseema or Konaseema, we have received an overwhelming response everywhere. There is no doubt that we will win the upcoming election.”

He claimed that people have decided to defeat YSRCP in the upcoming elections.

“Like a hungry lion waiting for the hunt, people from all walks of life are eagerly waiting for the elections to press two buttons and defeat the YSRCP once and for all,” said Chandrababu Naidu.

He alleged that law and order in the state had deteriorated and corruption was rife under the YSRCP government.

“Konashima is known for peace. There was no violence here before. But during the YSRCP regime, there was an increase in attacks, land grabbing, false cases, atrocities, commissions, caste politics, mafia kingdom, ganja and overall corruption,” he said .

“TDP, Janasena and BJP came before the people as a team to stop the atrocities of YSRCP,” he added.
