AARAartala, 3 October (IANS) After the five-day Durga Puja Festival, which ended on Thursday through Vijaya Dashami as per the religious program, the immersion of the idols continued on Friday.
A senior police officer said that from Thursday to Thursday, 2,140 Durga idols were submerged in Tripura till 10 am on Friday. Devotees, including men, women and children, bid farewell to Goddess Durga and her children with heavy heart as the biggest festival of the state was over.
According to traditions, the idols of the Durgabari temple in Agartala lead the Dashami procession on Thursday and are dipped with full state honors in Dasmighat in the state capital, in which the state police band plays national songs.
The Durgabari temple launched by the then kings continues to attract devotees from various parts of India and neighboring countries, including 149 -year -old Durga Puja and later seven and a half decades, sponsored by the Government of Tripura for seven and a half decades.
Meanwhile, the Tripura government will organize the fourth edition of the ‘Mayor Gaman Carnival’ on Saturday, which is a procession of Durga idols of the best priests on the capital and the outskirts of it. Chief Minister Manik Saha will inaugurate the ‘Mayor Gaman Carnival’, which is a witness to the participation of at least 40 community worship idols.
According to an official, three best worship idols will be given trophies, quotes and cash prizes. Aarartala Municipal Corporan Mayor Dipak Majumder, BJP MLA also visited the site of this program and reviewed the preparation.
At the colorful carnival, the puja organizers will demonstrate their subjects and organize cultural programs. The official said that the state government will organize another annual program – ‘Sarad Samman’, which is likely to be held on 11 October.
He said that during the ‘Sarad Samman’ ceremony, 43 clubs across the state would be honored for successfully conducting Durga Puja.
Chief Minister Saha, who holds information and cultural portfolio, said that like previous years, ‘Mayor Gomon’ and Sharad Samman program will be organized to encourage community and club worship organizers this year.
He said that he wants the whole country to know about the ‘Mayor Gomon’ of Tripura and its importance. ‘Mayor Gomon’ is an annual carnival that celebrates the departure of Goddess Durga, marking the conclusion of the five -day Durga Puja Festival.
