A father was allegedly drunk when he fell asleep in a hot tub while holding his daughter during a family vacation FloridaDue to which the child died.

The Sheriff’s Office said Huff fell asleep while holding the child. Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Kim Montes said the incident occurred between 2 and 3 a.m.
“When he woke up, he saw that the baby, who was still in his arms, was unresponsive,” Montes said.

Investigators said Huff noticed his daughter’s face was submerged in water and then he took her to her mother and called 911, deputies said. The temperature outside at that time was about 55 degrees.
The girl was taken to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
According to Osceola County Fire Rescue, crews responded to 89 drowning-related calls in 2021, 85 of which involved children. Captain Montes said many of the drownings in Osceola County have involved vacationers and their families, WFTV reported.
“You’re on vacation. You’re in that state that you don’t think anything can go wrong,” Montes warned.
