Latehar, Jharkhand:
A 35-year-old man, in an inebriated state, allegedly killed three people, including his 65-year-old father, and injured two others with a sharp axe, in Jharkhand’s Latehar district, police said on Monday.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Anjani Anjan said the accused, identified as Ranjan Oraon, was arrested following a raid in his village Latehar on Monday.
The incident took place on Sunday night in Dabri village, about 170 km from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, when the accused returned home in an inebriated state.
The villagers told the police that there was a dispute in their house when he returned in an intoxicated state. Oraon killed his father Suraj Oraon with an ax and then killed his relatives Anupama Devi (35) and Mansuriya Devi (32).
They also injured his cousin Amlesh Oraon and his wife Hiramani Devi, who were admitted to the hospital for better treatment, the SP said.
“After committing the crime, the accused fled towards the forest on Sunday night. As soon as the police were informed by the local villagers, they immediately reached the village and started investigating the case. On Monday morning, the police again reached the village and arrested the accused. Arrested.” SP said on information received from villagers.
