Drugs worth Rs 11 crore seized in Assam and Manipur; Four arrested

Officials said on Tuesday that Guwahati/Imphal, September 30 (IANS) drugs were seized at a price of Rs 11 crore, and four people were arrested in Assam and Manipur, officials said on Tuesday.

Superintendent of Police of Assam’s Kachar district, Numal Mahatta said that on the basis of reliable intelligence, Assam Police started a special operation against illegal transport of drugs on Silchar-Azal by-Pass road under the jurisdiction of Silkar Police Station in Kochhar district on Monday night.

He said that later, police personnel stopped a truck coming from Mizoram Capital, Aizawl, and during the search of the vehicle, 30,000 high -drug addiction Mathamfetamine pills were recovered.

The drugs worth about Rs 9 crore were vested in three black polyethylene wrapped packets and the drugs were placed in the trucks specially made in secret chambers. Vehicles used in illegal transport of drugs have been confiscated.

The district police chief said that the drug has been confiscated in the presence of independent witnesses, stating that the examination conducted by drug detection kits showed positive results for Mathambatamine.

During the preliminary investigation, it is revealed that the illegal substance has been taken from the Mizoram capital Eisol.

Further investigation of the case is going on, importance said.

Another police officer said that drugs were smuggled from Myanmar and then came to Assam via Mizoram.

The chin state of Myanmar is a foreign wildlife.

Different types of drugs, especially excessive intoxication methemfetamine pills, heroin, weapons, arms and ammunition, explosives, and a variety of controls, including foreign animals, are often illegally traded through six districts in Mizoram, sharing a 210 km limit with Myanmar.

In a separate incident, security forces have arrested two drug pedals in Manipur, who arrested the residents of the village of Redulomai, Nagri in Napati district, from Quakta Terakhongshanbi in Bishanupur district. Drug pedlers were identified as TS Valioz (40) and TT Dowin Worthingla (37).

From his possession, 11 soap cases which weigh about 161 grams of heroin, which cost Rs 1.83 crore, two mobile phones and two Aadhaar cards were recovered. In the third incident, security forces arrested two passengers from Imphal Airport, which weighed about 21.420 kg inside their luggage bag after detection of Contraband Ganja (Canbis).

The estimated value of cannabis is more than Rs 20 lakh. The two passengers were identified as Lishram Vikash Singh (20) and Nagangbam Nelson Metei (19) of both the residents of the Imphal West District.
