As part of the ongoing rift on drug trafficking and its commitment to protect the community from the crisis of drug abuse, the police in Kupwara detained Zakir Hussain Gakhad, who was under the prevention of illegal traffic in the prevention of illegal traffic in Abdullah Gakhad resident Krita resident, son of Karnah, resident of Abdullah Gakhad (Pit NDPS).
Detention was ordered by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, order number Divcom- “K”/73/2025 dated 26-04-2025.
Zakir Hussain has been found actively involved in cross-border drug smuggling and is purchasing drugs from various sources, in which from across the border, and is distributing them through a network of local drug pedals, mainly targeting school and college students. Income from this illegal trade was being used to fund terror-related activities in the valley, which led to an increase in drug addiction and criminal behavior among local youth.
His participation came to light after the operation by the police station Karnah, causing the narco-nuclear module. During the said operation, 07 kg of heroin and two live IEDs were recovered from a vehicle, and several colleagues of Zakir Hussain were arrested. The latter investigation revealed that Zakir Hussain was the main supplier of the seized Contraband.
Although his name was not initially not seen in FIR No. 38/2022, his role was revealed during the investigation, which revealed the allegations against him. He was later released on bail, but continued his participation in activities related to drug smuggling and terror. In the light of continuous hazards for public safety, preventive prevention under Pit NDP was considered necessary.
The police reiterated its unwavering resolve to deal with drug threat and maintain the rule of law. Strong legal action will continue against persons involved in such anti -social activities. ,
