Guwahati, Nov 8 (IANS) A focused training program on drone integration and operations was conducted to enhance the operational readiness of Assam Rifles personnel. Officials gave this information on Saturday.
Defense spokesperson Lt Col Mahendra Rawat said the initiative aims to strengthen the use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for surveillance, reconnaissance and real-time situational awareness in field conditions.
He said the training included modules on mission planning, data interpretation and drone handling techniques, enabling participants to develop greater technical proficiency and adaptability.
The course also emphasized the importance of accuracy, safety and coordinated teamwork during aerial operations.
According to the spokesperson, this initiative reflects the commitment of Assam Rifles to adopt modern technology as a force multiplier in its mission to ensure peace, stability and security in the entire North Eastern region.
Through continuous emphasis on skill development and innovation, the paramilitary force is evolving in line with emerging operational demands.
The Defense spokesperson said that by investing in such forward-looking training programmes, Assam Rifles reaffirms its dedication towards maintaining high professional standards and operational excellence, while remaining steadfast in its role as the “Sentinel of the North East”.
Meanwhile, to strengthen its preparedness for the dynamic operational environment, the Military Hospital at Tezu in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh successfully conducted a comprehensive casualty management drill under blackout at Tezu.
Lt Col Rawat said the exercise was specifically designed to simulate a real-world scenario where medical teams would have to manage casualties under challenging, low visibility conditions.
The primary objective of the drill was to test the unit’s efficiency, coordination and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) during a crisis. Under simulated combat stress and complete blackout conditions, the hospital staff and support personnel carefully practiced every step of the casualty evacuation chain.
The spokesperson said the key components of the exercise included quick and safe transportation of simulated casualties from the incident site, provision of immediate, life-saving field treatment and subsequent seamless evacuation to the main hospital facility.
The focus, he said, remained entirely on reducing the time gap between injury and definitive medical care.
