Ayodhya: Ayodhya echoed with slogans of devotion and emotion on Tuesday when Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the sacred religious flag on the peak of Ram temple. Sages, saints and devotees from across the country welcomed this moment with heartfelt joy and called it the fulfillment of a 500-year-old dream.

Emotionally, Sant Raju Das recalled the long and painful struggle behind this day.

Speaking to IANS, Sant Raju Das said, “After 500 years, the dream has come true. Many people in Ayodhya know that I was once arrested at Ghanta Ghar and spent 40 days in jail. Why? Because in Hanuman Garhi, if someone did not say ‘Jai Shri Ram’, were they expected to say anything else? That was the situation then – just to preach devotion. Today, every heart is happy. This is the same land, where Five lakh people sacrificed, fought and struggled. And today, under the leadership of PM Modi, this is not an ordinary incident.

Another saint also expressed similar sentiments.

“It was a moment of immense joy. Today, after 500 years, the Ram Temple is officially completed. PM Modi is not just a leader; he is a great man guiding a historic transformation.”

Mahant Tulsi Das said, “This moment fills the entire country with joy.”

Mahant Kamal Nayan Das reiterated, “I felt really honoured. This is a milestone for the spiritual and cultural future of the country.”

Sant Anuj Das commented, “This religious flag is actually a national flag. Whatever PM Modi did today was done entirely in the spirit of faith, not politics.”

Parshotam Dadichi, President of Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha, reflected on the deeper significance.

“The foundation stone of the temple is not just a construction event – it symbolizes the birth of the values that define a nation. After the Shila Puja and installation of Ram Lalla in the sanctum sanctorum, today’s flag hoisting represents India’s emergence as a global spiritual power. This message radiates positivity not only for our country but for the entire world.”

Emotions ran high among those present at the ceremony.

“I can’t express the joy I feel seeing this historic moment,” said one devotee.

Another said, “Our country waited 500 years for this. To see it with our own eyes is a blessing that we will cherish forever.”

At around 12 noon, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat led the ‘flag hoisting ceremony’ at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple by hoisting the specially designed sacred saffron flag over the temple.

The flag specially designed for the Ram temple has a length of 22 feet and width of 11 feet. Designed by a parachute expert from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the flag weighs between 2 to 3 kg and is designed to withstand high altitude and winds. The flag has the symbol of the Sun, which represents the Suryavanshi heritage and divine radiance of Lord Rama. The flag is decorated with the image of the Kovidar tree, Surya and Om. Its color is saffron – which symbolizes fire, rising sun, sacrifice and dedication.

The event is another milestone in the cultural renaissance centered around Ayodhya, with leaders emphasizing that the flag symbolizes not only religious devotion but also the enduring civilizational ethos of India. It also marks the completion of the temple construction.

Before this, PM Modi also offered prayers at the Sapt Mandir located in the huge Ram Temple complex.

These seven temples honor Maharishi Vashistha, Maharishi Vishwamitra, Maharishi Agastya, Maharishi Valmiki, Goddess Ahalya, Nishadraj Guha, and Mata Shabari.

The Sapta Mandirs represent the revered gurus, devotees and companions who played important roles in the life of Lord Rama, and their presence in the complex highlights their enduring importance.
