Dramatic video shows US police rescuing man from burning SUV before it catches fire

The pair managed to pull the motorist from the fire in less than ninety seconds.

A video has captured the dramatic moment two US police officers rescued a driver from a burning car before it was completely engulfed in flames. The incident occurred on February 1 in Coweta County, Georgia, and Newnan Coweta Scanner Traffic shared video of the rescue operation on Facebook.

On Thursday, Sheriff Mills received a report that an SUV had gone off the road and collided with a tree. Fox 5 Atlanta. When he and his colleagues arrived at the scene, they found a man trapped in the driver’s seat. Mr Mills smashed the car window and another officer used a knife to cut the seat belt as the man tried to pull his legs away from the spreading flames.

The pair managed to pull the motorist from the fire in less than ninety seconds. The dramatic rescue was captured on the officer’s body camera.

“According to preliminary details provided by GSP, the driver of a Ford Edge approached the curve to the left but continued straight ahead for unknown reasons. The vehicle left the road, struck multiple mailboxes and trash cans, and then struck a large tree . The vehicle came to rest on the east side of the road after striking a tree,” they explained in the post.

“When deputies arrived on scene, video showed the front of the vehicle completely engulfed in flames. Without hesitation, two officers ran toward the burning car, broke the windows, cut the occupant’s seatbelts, and removed him from the vehicle Pulled out and the rear of the car burst into flames,” the post further reads.

The driver was taken to the hospital with second- and first-degree burns.

Meanwhile, police officers were also praised for their heroic actions and selfless actions in saving the man. “These deputies are heroes. When faced with real physical danger, they would not hesitate to run to save a person they did not know. Prayers and heartfelt thanks to these men,” the post added.
