Former England cricketer Nasser Hussain on Tuesday said people sometimes mistake India skipper Rohit Sharma for being a “laid-back” player. The 36-year-old was in fine form in the series against England, scoring 400 runs at a strike rate of 64.21 after playing five matches. The India skipper also slammed two centuries against the visiting team. Speaking to Sky Sports, Nasser said Rohit’s batting was “skilled and talented”. Talking about the recently concluded five-match Test series between India and England, the 55-year-old said that Rohit had a great series as captain.

“I think sometimes people confuse Rohit as a laid-back cricketer who just lets the game flow. There’s a lot of skill, thought and flair to his batting. I think he had a great series as a captain himself. Speaking to the media about the meeting shows that he sometimes has to learn and adapt to his style of captaincy,” Nasser told Sky Sports.

The former England cricketer asked fans not to confuse the captaincy of Rohit and Virat Kohli.

“Don’t confuse Rohit with Virat’s captaincy as he comes off the back of Virat Kohli. In your face, combative captaincy. In the huddle at Rod, said let’s Unleash hell against England’s batting line-up. Rohit is not exactly the same type of guy. He has a fire burning inside him,” he added.

England failed to capitalize on an early 1-0 advantage and suffered their fourth consecutive defeat in the series after a narrow victory in Hyderabad. The visitors had their chances, especially in Rajkot and Ranchi, but India came back strong and won in both occasions.

India defeated England 4-1 in the five Tests. In the fifth and final match, the home team defeated England by an innings and 64 runs.
