Trump’s administration has been constantly described as providing unrelated support for Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Carney insisted that the Canadian recognition is conditional on governance reforms by the Palestinian Authority, which includes free general elections in 2026 that exclude Hamas, and the future Palestinian state demonetisation.
Canada and the US are engaged in intensive talks to resolve trade disputes, including the current American tariffs on Canadian steel, aluminum and automobiles.
