Under proposals, new health centers – six days a week will offer open diagnosis, rehabilitation, nursing and even loan and employment assistance, aimed at reducing pressure on hospitals and taking care close to the house.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting called it a “one -time generation” improvement that will “turn NHS to its head.”

But critics argue that the vision is far from new – and the question is whether it can be distributed without significant new funding, staffing and systemic changes.

Tanks such as the Kings Fund and Nafield Trust welcomed the ambition of the plan, but warned that the clear distribution mechanisms, capital investment, and services joined working between services, the strategy risk repeats previous failures.
