Bengaluru, Nov 16 (IANS) Responding to a question about a proposal before the Congress high command to replace Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, former MP DK Suresh on Sunday said his brother Shivakumar will abide by any decision taken by the party high command and will continue to work for the party.

Suresh said, “DK Shivakumar will abide by any decision taken by the Congress high command. Everyone will have to listen to the high command, there is no doubt about it. Shivkumar is not staying on the post, the party has asked him to continue. He will work for the party as long as the party gives him a chance.”

Speaking to reporters at his residence in Sadashivnagar, Bengaluru, he said, “The decision on cabinet reshuffle and power sharing is taken by the Congress high command.” The former Congress MP said he would wait for the decision.

Asked about the cabinet reshuffle in Karnataka, Suresh said: “I have seen reports in the media. It is the prerogative of the Congress high command and the CM, let’s wait and see.”

He was replying to a question about whether the Congress high command had given green signal to the cabinet reshuffle.

Asked about the notion that there would be no leadership change if there is a cabinet reshuffle, Suresh said, “I have no knowledge about that. It will be decided by the party high command, not by others.”

Asked if he would join his brother Shivkumar in Delhi, he said, “The media has already reported that I am in Delhi. Coming to Delhi is not a new thing for me. DK Shivkumar has gone to Delhi for work and I am going for my work.”

Asked if he would meet the Congress high command during his Delhi visit, Suresh said he would do so if the opportunity arose.

Asked if the waiting period was over, he said, “I don’t know about that. These are your words, let’s wait and see.”

Asked about his desire to make his brother Shivakumar the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Suresh said, “I have talked about this many times. The decision of the Congress high command on this matter is final, we will have to see what the high command decides.”

Asked whether every future change in the state Congress unit depends on DK Shivakumar’s ‘claims’, he said, “Let’s wait. It is not that only Shivakumar is making claims, a lot of people are making claims. We don’t know what claims others have made.”

Asked about Home Minister G Parameshwara’s statement that there will be no change in leadership if there is a cabinet reshuffle, he said, “He is a senior minister. It is the CM’s prerogative to reshuffle the cabinet and he is working as per the instructions of the high command. If the high command asks, DK Shivakumar will give his inputs.”

These statements have become important in the background of the visit of CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM Shivkumar to Delhi.

CM Siddaramaiah, who returned from Delhi on Saturday night after a one-day visit, is going to Delhi again on Monday.

He is meeting Randeep Singh Surjewala and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

CM Siddaramaiah will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday evening and discuss the crisis faced by sugarcane growers in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar is already in Delhi and party sources said the matter of the cabinet reshuffle will be discussed in detail by national leaders.

While sources confirmed that CM Siddaramaiah is in favor of a cabinet reshuffle, Deputy CM Shivakumar has expressed his objection to a complete cabinet reshuffle.

Congress sources said the party is keen to give work-related responsibilities to some senior cabinet ministers.
