To ensure a smooth and spiritually rich experience for the devotees during the upcoming fair Mata Kheer Bhavani, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Tuesday presided over a detailed review meeting with officials of various departments.

For careful planning, Bidhuri directed deputy commissioners and departmental heads to make strong arrangements at Tulmullah, main pilgrimage site in Genderbal and to make strong arrangements at other major places in Kupwara, Kulgam and Anantnag. He emphasized the need to cross last year’s efforts in providing facilities for pilgrims.

Major areas of focus included transport, housing, sanitation, drinking water, electricity, food services (langar), and toilets.

Div Com emphasized the time of the canal at Tulmullah, beautification of temple environment, approach to repair roads and restoration of non-functional streetlights.

He directed security arrangements, deployment of SDRF teams and fire tenders near the pilgrimage site. In order to ensure effective coordination throughout the festival, departments were directed to nominate nodal officers.

He directed to provide special transport facilities for migrant employees wishing to participate in the fair. The Health Department was asked to give place to efficient medical teams, while the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs was directed to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities including LPG.

Deputy Commissioners of all concerned districts gave information on the ongoing preparations, while representatives of Kashmiri Pandit organizations underlined their suggestions for a smooth and safe celebration.

The meeting was attended by deputy commissioners of Srinagar, Gandal, Anantnag, Kupwara and Kulgam along with representatives of tourism, relief and rehabilitation, police, traffic, PWD, KPDCL, PHE, SRTC, SDRF, Fire, Information Departments and various Kashmiri Pandit organizations.
