In view of the rising temperature and the ongoing heat wave situation, the office of Chairman DDMA/ Deputy Commissioner Baramulla has issued a detailed advice aimed at ensuring public health protection and coordinated response from government departments.
The advisory prepares preventive measures to reduce heat -related diseases such as heat stroke, dehydration, and the risk of deteriorating health conditions.
For the general public, the advisor emphasizes the importance of drinking enough water, wearing light colored cotton clothes, and using hats, umbrellas or sunscreen when going out.
“Citizens are advised to stay indoors during peak heat hours (11 am to 4 pm), keep the indoor spaces cool using curtains, fans or coolers, and regularly check on weak persons with elderly, children and old health issues,” Read the advisor.
The public was also warned to engage in vigorous physical activity during hot hours, leaving in vehicles parked in direct contact with sunlight during the afternoon, and also to consume alcohol, caffeine, or heavy food during warm hours.
Government departments have been instructed to ensure uninterrupted water supply in weak areas, maintain a regulated power supply to prevent outage, and keep health facilities ready for any spike in heat related diseases. Departments are also advised to run public awareness campaigns, provide hydration facilities in public places and restrict external labor during high heat periods.
In addition, departments are urged not to delay heat cases of heat, so as to avoid scheduling outdoor public events during extreme heat, and ensure rapid solutions to public grievances related to water or power supply. Emphasis has also been laid on the spread of weather alert.
The Health Department was instructed to set up heat stroke clinics across the district and to ensure the availability of oral regeneration solutions (ORS), essential medicines and other emergency health resources.
The district administration has appealed to the public to follow the recommended guidelines and cooperate fully with the authorities. Group efforts and precautions on time are important to reduce the effects of heat wave and ensure public safety.
