Dirt bike rider accused for allegedly striking police officer in Mississaga

A dirt bike rider has been accused for allegedly killing a police officer while trying to escape in Mississaga in July.

Peel police say that the officials were incorrectly driving in the area near Aglinton Avenue and Erin Mills Parkway on 1 July.

It is alleged that the young driver was seen doing the wheel and other dangerous maneuvers, and while trying to escape from the police, the dirt bike made contact with a cruiser.

An official attempted to arrest the driver when he was allegedly killed as the dirt escaped at a high rate of bike speed.

The officer suffered serious injuries, but is expected to recover completely.

After an investigation, the youth were arrested on August 7 and accused of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flying from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, causing physical damage and failure to stay in the accident scene.

The youth were released on a promise.
