Solapur, September 25 (IANS) Former Minister and NCP-SP MLA Jayant Patil on Thursday demanded that the state government should provide direct assistance of Rs 50,000 per acre to farmers affecting heavy rains and damage caused by floods in various parts of Maharashtra.
Patil, who was with former minister and party leader Harshvardhan Patil, after inspecting the hit villages of floods and interacting with the farmers, Patil told reporters that the farmers are in crisis today. He demanded only announcements to the government instead of taking immediate decisions and justice to the farmers.
“The standing crop in the fields was destroyed. Farmers are destroying their lives with tears in their eyes. Instead of involving farmers in the Panchnama process and generating more mental torture, the right way is to provide immediate compensation. Therefore, immediately, at least Rs 50,000 per acre should be provided direct assistance.
Patil further said that the current situation of farmers in Mada taluka is quite serious. Farmers have been broken due to heavy rains for a few days. He expressed the feeling that farmers had already become cumbersome with debt, and heavy rains have truly washed away the hard work of farmers.
Meanwhile, NCP (SP) Executive Chairman Supriya Sule said that he met Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and informed him about the serious flood situation in Maharashtra and demanded that the wet drought be declared with full loan exemption.
“Farmers have suffered a lot of damage in the state. In many places, the soil has been washed from the fields, causing the risk of becoming barren.
