The origins of domestic cats have been a major theme among researchers. His emergence has been associated with the Neolithic period, where he was with farmers spreading throughout Europe with agricultural adaptation. However, further investigation has been done, in which importance surprised archaeologists. Recently, two large -scale testing was conducted by Rome Tor Vergata and 42 institutes University, and one more by Exeter University and contributors of 37 institutes, stating that Tunisia may be the place of domestic cat.

Expert team of researchers at the University of Rome Tor Vergata conducted a pelio-geographical analysis, where they analyzed samples of cats from 97 archaeological sites throughout Europe and Anatolia. Similarly, he also took samples from North Africa, Bulgaria and Italy.
As Study Published on Biorxiv “Domestic cats from North Africa and their introduction to Europe in the last two millenniums”, researchers analyzed a total of 70 low-coverage ancient genomes, 37 radiocarbon-dated cat residues and 17 modern and museum genomes.

Exeter Study University

They analyzed the bones of 2,416 archeology region around 206 sites and with genetic conclusions, cross-refered morphological data.
The major findings of this collaborative study defined that domestic cats first appeared in Europe in the early millennium BC. They existed earlier Roman extension.
Egyptian connection
According to mythological principles, the emergence of cats dominated was related to religious and cultural dimensions. In Egypt, cats were considered sacred. In addition, in Greek culture, these organisms became religious symbols of Artemis and Diana – a versatile divinity.
Although two studies provide different understanding, the results suggest that cats appeared in Europe after leaving North Africa as a result of cultural practices, religious reverence and business networks.
