The beloved star is set to reach the milestone age on December 13, and she said she’s not worried about being remembered.
Speaking told US magazine People Van Dyke says he attributes his remarkable longevity to constantly maintaining a “bright outlook”.
He explained: “I’ve always thought that anger is something that eats away at the inside of a person – and hatred. And I’ve never really been able to create a feeling of hatred. I think that’s one of the main things that keeps me going. There were things I didn’t like, people I didn’t like and people I rejected. But I was never really able to hate like I hated.”

Despite turning a century old, Van Dyke remains active, having released a new book, 100 rules for living to 100. Of the book he says, “Each rule stems from a story from my own life, which I believe has stuck in my memory for a good reason – because it had some broader emotional significance for me.”
The actor, who also starred in a Coldplay music video last year, exudes a youthful spirit, saying, “I feel really good to be 100. Sometimes I have more energy than others – but I never wake up in a bad mood. I feel like I’m about 13 years old.”
Reflecting on his legacy, the entertainer is not concerned with personal remembrance, but with the lasting joy his work brings. “But it’s music, the music we leave behind,” he thought. “As long as kids are proudly pronouncing their new word, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, or singing and jumping along to Chim Chim Cher-ee, the most important part of me will always live on.”
Van Dyke’s illustrious career spanned more than seven decades, earning him numerous awards, including four Emmys, a Tony, and a Tony Award. bye birdieand a grammy for mary poppins Soundtrack.
