Cristian Romero has posted on Instagram ‘we will not get tired of trying’ after Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-3 draw at Southampton on Saturday, which resulted in Antonio Conte verbally unleashing at how the club is being run and the weak mentality of his players.
Tottenham were leading 3-1 at St Mary’s, only to walk away with a point against the relegation-threatened side, after James Ward-Prowse’s stoppage-time penalty.
After the game, Conte slammed the mentality of Tottenham, the players, those sitting at the top of the tree and their lack of trophies under Daniel Levy’s stewardship.
A typical day for the Italian, then!?
Nonetheless, it was another woeful performance from Spurs, after recently getting knocked out of the Champions League by AC Milan and the FA Cup to Championship side, Sheffield United.
Well, Romero posted on his IG the following message after the Saints draw: “There are many things to improve, but we will not get tired of trying, we will get up and try again. I love the players of my team, I love them and my club, I know that we are going to move forward and the time and work of all together will tell us where we will go. I’ve been here for a short time, but we’re going to be together to achieve important things, more years may pass but we’ll try.”
In the comments section of his IG post, Romero’s international teammate Angel di Maria simply posted fire emojis, whilst Sergio Reguilon added ‘Great, Cuti’.
WHAT NEXT FOR SPURS?
It’s pretty clear that Conte doesn’t care about the consequences of his words after he made his feelings known after Tottenham’s draw at Southampton.
It’s pretty pathetic that a club, trying to work for the long-term, is so short-term that their current manager’s deal runs out in the summer and their star striker, Harry Kane, will have 12 months left to run on his contract in June.
Things will only get worse if Liverpool and Newcastle United hunt them down because surely they are rubbing their hands at glee watching all of this unfold from the north London side.
