DGCA forms 8-member panel to assess IndiGo's operations amid crisis

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday, December 10, constituted an eight-member panel to monitor IndiGo’s operations in the wake of flight disruptions in the country.

According to ANI, an order issued by the DGCA said that the inspection team will consist of Deputy Chief Flight Operations Inspector, Senior FOI and two FOIs.

The order said that two members of the team will be posted at the IndiGo corporate office in Gurugram.

Officials have been asked to assess the airline’s total fleet, average leg length (distance covered by an aircraft in one leg), total number of pilots, network details, crew under training and crew utilization in hours, among other mandates.

Deputy Director Aishvir Singh, Senior Statistics Officer Mani Bhushan will be deployed at IndiGo office to monitor the status of domestic and international cancellations, refund status, on-time performance, compensation to passengers as per civil aviation requirement and baggage refunds.

The order states that both the teams will have to submit daily reports by 6 pm to Joint Director General (Administration) Harish Kumar Vashishtha and Joint Director General Jai Prakash Pandey.

According to the order, these officers include an eight-member team:

(iii) Captain VP Singh, SFOI (A)
(iv) Capet. Aggarwal Apoor, SFOI(A)
(v) Captain Swati Loomba, SFOI (A)
(vi) Capt. Aman Suhag, SFOI(A)
(vii) Captain Nitya Jain, FOI (A)
(viii) Captain NJ Singh, Faith (A)
