DGCA allows IndiGo to expand the aircraft lease agreement with Turkish Airlines for 3 months

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said on Friday that IndiGo has been given a final and final expansion for three months by August 2025 for the aircraft of Turkish Airlines.

IndiGo is operating two B777–300er aircraft from Turkish Airlines under “Nam Lease”, which was allowed till 31 May, 2025.

IndiGo requested a six -month expansion, which the regulator did not agree.

“However, to avoid passenger inconvenience due to immediate flight dissolution, IndiGo has been given the last and final expansion of three months,” the DGCA said.

“This expansion is based on the undertaking from the airline that they will eliminate the moist lease with the Turkish airlines within this expansion period, and do not want any more expansion for these tasks,” DGCA said.

With a new aircraft joining the fleet every week during 2025-26, IndiGo estimated to cross the size of the fleet of 600 aircraft by 2030, the airline said on the network expansion front.

Additionally, the airline has signed an agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways for moist lease of six Boeing 787–9 Dreamliner aircraft. The delivery will be completed by the beginning of 2026, and the A350s is estimated to come in 2027.

These additional aircraft strengthen the airline’s long-term abilities.

2025-26 will also be the year in which a long-range A321xlr joins the fleet of Indigo, opening the doors of new long distance international markets that were not already directly connected directly to India.

Continuing the strategy of Internationalization of Indigo, the airline is planning to add an impressive 10 new international destinations in all directions from India- in its root network in the coming year, brought it to more than 50 international destinations.

It has already announced a long-stop operation with non-stop, direct flights, starting Mumbai with Manchester and Amsterdam to July 2025 respectively. As Indigo’s Naming fleet has expanded B787 later this year, the airline is planning to expand its long -term network for London and Copenhagen.

With the expanded range capabilities of the A321xLR aircraft joining the Indigo fleet, will allow to build your European network with direct connectivity to the markets where Athens are planned to be introduced during the coming year.

The airline will continue to construct its strong regional international networks, adding four and Central Asian destinations. The airline will re-activate the services to Almaty and Tashkent with new non-stop services from Mumbai. TBILISI will also see additional capacity with non-stop connectivity from Mumbai.

The direct flights to the Seem Reap will be IndiGo’s Forest in India – Cambodia Market, and yet another destination connected in Southeast Asia after successful launch of Langakawi, Penang and Krabi last year. The airline will also add the capacity of Ho Chi Mihan City and Hanoi along with Denpasar Bali (Indonesia) in Vietnam.

In the domestic market, IndiGo has planned to add four more stations to its network, increasing it from 91 to 95 destinations to every corner of the nation. IndiGo is set to become the first airline to start operating at Navi Mumbai International Airport and Noida International Airport in Jews (service to both Uttar Pradesh and Delhi Catchment Area).

In addition, IndiGo will start flights from Adampur Airport in Jalandhar on July 1, 2025 from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad. (AI)
