Shimla, 22 September (IANS) on Monday, on the first day of the nine -day Navratri, considered an auspicious period by the Hindu, threw thousands of devotees of temples in Himachal Pradesh in temples on Monday, and offered prayers.
The popular temples of naina devi in bilaspur, chintpurni in una, baba balk nath in hamirpur, brajeshwari devi, jwalaji and chamunda devi in kangra, and bhimakali and hateshwari in shimla distla dust huge rush.
A senior police officer told IANS that security has been given beef, and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been established to manage the crowd.
Shardia Navratri will conclude on 2 October with the celebration of Dussehra.
Most of the pilgrims came from Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. “Every day we are expecting between 15,000 and 20,000 devotees in the temple,” an official of Hilltop Naina Devi Shrine in Bilaspur district told IANS.
Many temples including Mata Chintpurni in Una district, Baba Balak Nath Temple Deoothsidh in Hamirpur district and Jokhu Temple in Shimla district are now offering “Darshan” services.
Devotees will also be able to offer online offerings. The temple websites have a collection of photographs and the history of temples. It also includes information about upcoming religious events and festivals.
An official of the Chintpurni temple said, “A literally a ‘parikrama’ (periphery) of the temple could be.”
Giving best wishes, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu wrote on X, “My wish to Ma Shailputri is that with his divine grace, she frees your life from every crisis and fills it with joy and glow. Jai Mata Di.”
This festival is celebrated four times a year, which is known as Chaiti Navratri, Maga Gupta Navratri, Ashdha Gupta Navratri and Shardia Navratri. The most famous Navratris are those that occur during the Chaitra month and Ashwina Month. During this time Navratri, Durga Puja is also organized in various areas.
