devin haney has revealed that he is no longer pursuing legal action Ryan Garcia After their controversial fight in April 2024.
The former undisputed lightweight champion filed a lawsuit against Garcia for battery, fraud and breach of contract, causing him injuries, emotional distress, reputational damage and millions in lost potential earnings – after Garcia Tested positive for banned substance Ostarine,
Garcia also weighed in at 143 pounds before the super-lightweight title fight, for which the limit is 140 pounds, then moved up to drop honey down three times On the way to majority-decision victory.
Haney has insisted that he never wanted to take legal action and was determined to get his revenge in the ring rather than in the courtroom.

“I would say my team was [behind the lawsuit],” Haney explained to Ariel Helwani. “It was nothing.” [I wanted]I’m a fighter – I want to get it back in the ring. I want to get it back in the blood and that was my mentality from the beginning to the end. I always wanted a rematch.
“There was a guy who cheated, and I was facing all the criticism. I lost a lot of money, I lost a lot of opportunities to the guy who cheated on me. But I didn’t want to do that [sue Garcia]Which… I didn’t finish it that way.
“I didn’t go that route. I said, ‘Listen, let’s fight. Forget it, forget any lawsuits, forget anything. Let’s settle it in the ring.'”

It seemed as if Haney and Garcia would get a rematch earlier this year, as they both signed lucrative deals with Turkish Alalsikh and Riyadh Season, where they would both have a warm-up fight before resuming their hostilities in Riyadh.
Haney upheld his end of the bargain when the two joined the Times Square card on May 3 and defeated Jose Ramirez on points.

But Garcia was defeated and suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of his old rival Rollie Romero, derailing plans for a possible rematch with Haney.
Haney has now moved on and is scheduled to fight Brian Norman Jr. for his WBO welterweight title on November 22, and Garcia is still in limbo, searching for his next opponent after recovering from minor hand surgery – but appears to be more interested in a rematch with Romero rather than fighting Haney right now.
