Former Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Sachin Tendulkar boosted the team’s morale after their loss to SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2024 on Wednesday. SRH and MI put on a run-scoring feast in Hyderabad, posting a combined total of 523 runs, the highest ever in an IPL match. SRH posted their highest ever IPL total of 277/3 before MI chased them down with 246/5. While SRH won the match by 31 runs, Tendulkar said the match could have gone either way, especially with MI taking control during their chase.
“In the second half, despite the score being 277, no one knew who was the clear winner. The game was very open. The goal was very easy to achieve. It was a clear sign that we had batted really well. So let’s unite. Closer. There will be tougher times. We will stick together as a team and get through this,” Tendulkar said in a video uploaded by MI.

Openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan scored 56 runs in 3.1 overs to give the visitors a dream start in the chase. However, MI lost both matches within 10 runs.
Naman Dhir made another cameo with a 14-ball 30 before Unadkat caught him off SRH captain Pat Cummins.
Tilak Varma (64 off 34) drove from there to keep MI alive, but his dismissal in the 15th over, followed by a string of penalties, made MI’s chase a bit tricky.
Tim David struck an unbeaten 42 in the dying seconds but Mumbai ended up finishing with 246-5 (the team’s highest IPL total).
Cummins was the best among the bowlers, taking 2-35 from four overs to guide his team to their first win of the season and said “it was a good game”.
Conversely, MI’s South African off-spinner Kwena Maphaka learned the hard way during her introduction to the IPL, with the 17-year-old left-arm quick scoring 66 runs in four overs.
SRH will face GT on Sunday, while MI will face RR a day later.
