Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, November 19, said expansion of natural farming in India is “the demand of the 21st century.” He said that this will boost the growth of agriculture sector besides tackling climate change.

Addressing the South India Natural Farming Summit in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, PM Modi said, “Due to excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, soil fertility is decreasing, soil moisture is getting affected and the cost of farming is increasing every year. Its solution is possible only through crop diversification and natural farming.”

“Expansion of natural farming is the demand of 21st century farming,” he stressed. “It can keep our soil healthy and protect people from harmful chemicals,” he said.

The Prime Minister further said that natural farming can help tackle climate change.

Prime Minister Modi also transferred the 21st installment of PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana to the beneficiary farmers.

Above ₹18,000 crore transferred directly into the bank accounts of over nine crore farmers with each recipient ₹2,000.
