The foot-tapping track, which has ruled playlists and social media since August, has become the soundtrack of the force’s latest awareness campaign.
In a video shared on Instagram on November 4, Delhi Police used the song to highlight issues like rash driving, triple riding and driving without helmets and urged people to follow traffic rules.
The video cleverly mirrors the theme of the original track.
In it, the actress is seen rejecting photoshopped pictures of men doing stunts on bikes, riding without helmets and riding triples, which are shown to her as potential boyfriends by her parents, before she immediately approves of a man wearing a helmet.
The caption, both charming and clever, reads: ‘Dil wahi le le jayega jo road rules apanayega’ which translates to ‘Only the one who will follow the road rules will win the heart.’
A playful twist on the famous hook line of Aujla’s song ‘Dil Le Gaya Koi’. The video created a stir online, with over 3.2 lakh likes, 4,600 comments, 1.6 thousand reposts and over 1.7 lakh shares by Thursday (November 6) evening.
Users flooded the comments section with praise and called it the “perfect way to set a trend.”
One comment read, ‘What a thing, Delhi Police is creative,’ while another joked, ‘Pakki police.’ Even the official team of Aujla connected with the public with laughing emojis, while others appreciated the police for their creativity.
The post also tagged Aujla and actress/singer Sunanda Sharma, who was in the original music video.
