Delhi Police has arrested five declared criminals wanted in multiple cases.

New Delhi, Nov 18 (IANS) In a coordinated multi-unit operation, Delhi Police has arrested or traced five declared criminals and fugitives wanted in cases ranging from check dishonor to theft, violation of Excise Act and grievous hurt.

According to an official press release issued on Tuesday, the arrests were made by teams from RK Puram, Delhi Cantt, AATS, Palam Village and Vasant Vihar police stations.

The district police said the criminals were declared declared criminals by various courts through orders dated August 8, 2002, July 7, 2025, September 1, 2025, October 14, 2025 and November 3, 2025.

In its statement, the police stressed that the action resulted from “strategic raids as well as extensive manual and technical surveillance”, adding that the operation was aimed at targeting individuals who had been “evading the process of law” for a long time.

Several teams were formed, informers were activated and ground staff deployed to expedite action on pending cases involving proclaimed offenders. The press release said these units “worked on technical and manual information to trace the proclaimed offenders”.

The first case involved Jitendra Sharma, who was wanted in CC No. 20540/2024 (u/s 138 NI Act) and was declared a proclaimed offender on October 14. Acting on a tip-off, a team from Palam Village police station, comprising ASI Nitya Nand, ASI Anil and HC Santosh, under the guidance of the SHO, nabbed him.

Vasant Vihar Police Station traced Wasim, who was declared a fugitive in FIR No. 639/2020 (379/411/34 IPC) of PS Okhla Industrial Area. Upon verification, the police found out that he was already lodged in Tihar jail in two other cases and informed the concerned police station for further legal action.

In a significant breakthrough, RK Puram Police Station arrested Vishnu, 53, who was evading arrest for over 23 years in FIR No. 656/1995 (u/s 61/1/14 Under the Excise Act). In 2002, he was declared a fugitive criminal.

The second major arrest was of Rajesh Kumar, wanted in CC No. 39946/2018 (u/s 138 NI Act), who was arrested from Delhi Cantt. Police station after a targeted raid conducted on 16 November.

AATS/South West District team also arrested proclaimed offender Vijay Singh in FIR No. 14/2021 (under section 325/506 of IPC) from Delhi Cantt. Area after tip off.

A press release issued by Amit Goyal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South West District, New Delhi, said: “Further efforts are being made to nab more proclaimed offenders.”
