New Delhi, Oct 21 (IANS) In view of preparations for the upcoming festive season and upcoming events, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police successfully organized and conducted a workshop on National IED Data Management System (NIDMS), an official said on Tuesday.
This important workshop was organized on 10 October 2025 and in addition, a 12 days training session on IED Awareness for BDS/BDT personnel of Delhi Police from 6-17 October 2025 was organized at Delhi Police Academy (DPA), Dwarka in collaboration with National Security Guard (NSG) in which 110 and 86 police personnel participated respectively.
According to Delhi Police, “A comprehensive workshop on National IED Data Management System (NIDMS) was held on October 10, 2025 at Delhi Police Academy, Dwarka, jointly organized by National Bomb Data Center (NBDC) of NSG Training Center and Delhi Police.”
The workshop was attended by 110 officers/personnel from various wings including Crime Branch, IT Center PHQ and all Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) and Bomb Detection Teams (BDT) of Delhi Police.
Director, NBDC gave a detailed briefing on the functioning of NIDMS and its strategic importance in promoting intelligence sharing and anti-IED preparedness across the country.
Specifically, the role of NBDC includes collecting, analyzing and evaluating all terrorist bombing activities reported in the country and abroad, disseminating relevant information to concerned law enforcement agencies, conducting limited research and innovation in the field of bomb disposal and others.
Along with the workshop, a 12-day IED Awareness Capsule Course was conducted for BDS and BDT personnel of Delhi Police from 6-17 October.
“A total of 86 BDS/BDT officers of Delhi Police underwent comprehensive training, which included theoretical sessions, field exercises and practical experience with modern explosive detection and disposal equipment. The course included practical sessions at NSG Manesar and a visit to their IED Museum, which provided rich experience for real-life counter-IED operations,” Delhi Police said in its press note.
Notably, Delhi Police currently operates eight bomb disposal squads and 18 bomb detection teams in districts/units such as Delhi Metro, IGI Airport and railway stations.
“The teams were trained and made aware of the functioning and capabilities of modern equipment,” it said.
According to the information, new additions have been included in their arsenal, which include Telescopic Manipulators, Deep Search Metal Detector, M-Ion Explosive Vapor Detector and RSP Tool Kit.
Similarly, to further enhance security and operational efficiency, procurement of Non-Linear Junction Evaluator (NLJE), Tactical Ballistic Shield (TBS), Bomb Blanket, Fiber Optic Scope (FOS), Night Vision Monocular, Electronic Stethoscope and IED Containment Vessel is underway.
