There appears to be a slight improvement in air quality, as 39 out of 40 pollution monitoring stations recorded the AQI below the 400 level, while remaining in the “very poor” category. No readings were available for one station.
Earlier in December, the overall AQI of Delhi was 412 which falls in the severe category.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)’s Sameer mobile application data, at 7:05 am on December 24, Aya Nagar recorded AQI 271, which falls in the “poor” category. 273 AQI was recorded at IGI Airport (T3). Improvement in air quality was also recorded at Mandir Marg (289) and IIT Delhi (298) stations.
The highest levels of AQI were recorded in Nehru Nagar (399), Okhla Phase 2 (382), Mundka (385), Jahangirpuri (373), Vivek Vihar (377), Ashok Vihar (374), Sirifort (367), RK Puran (376), and Chandni Chowk (382).
In the surrounding National Capital Region, Ghaziabad recorded an overall AQI of 309, with its two monitoring stations Sanjay Nagar (339), and Vasundhara (377) recording very poor AQI levels.
Greater Noida recorded an overall AQI of 344, its Knowledge Park-V station recorded an AQI of 359, and Knowledge Park-III recorded a level of 328.
Noida’s overall AQI also fell into the very poor category at 355. All four stations – Sector 125 (357), Sector 1 (398), Sector 116 (362), and Sector 62 (302) – reported very poor AQI.
Gurugram’s overall AQI level was also in the “very poor” category at 316. Only one of its four pollution monitoring stations, located at Vikas Sadan, recorded AQI in the poor category at 285. The other three recorded AQI levels in the “very poor” category.
AQI was recorded near severe category in Rohtak, Haryana. MD University, the only station in the city, recorded AQI 387.
Similarly, the air quality in Dharuhera in the state was also reported as “very poor” with AQI of 329.
