A Delhi court on Wednesday postponed the hearing of former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia’s bail plea in the CBI and ED cases related to the Delhi consumer policy case.

Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of the Louth Avenue Court decided to fix the matter for April 2, 2024, after reviewing the submissions. Previously, a bail hearing was scheduled for April 4.

The court twice postponed the hearing of the bail application. Yesterday, it was postponed to April 4th.

Manish Sisodia has filed an application seeking to postpone the date of his bail hearing. The application seeks a hearing scheduled for April 1, 2024.

Earlier, special judge MK Nagpal heard the complaint. However, he was transferred to Tis Hazari Court on March 19. He began hearing pleas after Manish Sisodia’s treatment petition was rejected by the Supreme Court.

On March 18, the CBI opposed the bail plea and said some prominent figures might be arrested. The investigation is ongoing and this defendant may impede the investigation.

Senior advocate Mohit Mathur first said that the Supreme Court (SC) has observed that 13 months have elapsed and granted bail to Benoy Babu.

The senior defense lawyer also said, “I (Manish Sisodia) satisfied the triple test. He was not a flight risk. There was no opportunity to tamper with the evidence. There is no evidence left now. All have become approvers. “

He further pointed out that apart from this, the fact is that there is no loss to the exchequer but there is a profit. There is no loss even to any individual or any consumer. Mathur said he did not pay and vice versa.

He also contended that the main charge sheet and charge sheet had been filed. There has been no progress on trials, or progress has been slow. There are more than 400 witnesses and the trial has not yet begun.

On the other hand, the bail plea was opposed by Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Pankaj Gupta. He argued that there was no delay on our part. The trial began after the charges were argued. We’re trying to start doing that. The defendant postponed the trial.

CBI APP said that some prominent persons may be arrested. The investigation is ongoing and this defendant may influence witnesses and hinder the investigation.

Pankaj Gupta said the application should be dismissed.
