Delhi blasts: NIA interrogates a man in Bengal’s Murshidabad district

Kolkata, November 12 (IANS) Investigators reached Nabagram in Murshidabad on Wednesday. According to sources, NIA had come to Bengal after getting some phone numbers of the suspects arrested in connection with the Delhi blasts.

Sources said the operation began at 7 am in a village under Nabagram police station in Murshidabad. The NIA investigation team went to the house of a person named Mainul Hasan. He was called and interrogated for a long time. It has been learned that Mainul Hasan is a migrant laborer by profession. He sometimes worked as a migrant laborer in Delhi and sometimes in Mumbai.

Sources said that Mainul had contact with members of some militant organizations at that time.

Sources said that Mainul’s phone number was found to be that of a Delhi blast suspect.

Mainul’s house was also searched. Apart from Mainul’s house, the investigating officer is also roaming in the villages of Murshidabad and making inquiries.

Sources said that apart from Mainul, many other names have also come forward. The operation is being run on the basis of such names. It is being investigated whether these residents of Murshidabad are directly or indirectly involved in the Delhi blasts. The neighbors of the area were surprised by this sudden action.

At least eight people were killed and dozens injured after a car exploded near the Red Fort on Monday evening.

The blast took place at 6.52 pm in a Hyundai i20 car near the Red Fort metro station, leaving mutilated bodies and damaged cars scattered across the busy area.

High alert has been issued in Delhi. Delhi Police has invoked sections of UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) after forensic evidence and intelligence inputs pointed towards possible terror links.

Investigators have arrested around 15 people in connection with the incident and are searching for others who were directly or indirectly involved in the blast.
