New Delhi, Nov 18 (IANS) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday is carrying out searches at several places belonging to Al Falah University, its trustees and related persons and entities in connection with the November 10 blast near the Red Fort.

The raid, which started around 5 am, also included a search of the university’s main office located in Okhla, Delhi. The ED is currently investigating financial and operational links that may be connected to the case.

Meanwhile, as developments in the blast investigation continue, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested the second associate of the suicide bomber. Another key accused is expected to appear in court later on Tuesday. Javed Farooqui, founder of Al Falah University, has also been called for questioning by the Crime Branch office in Chanakyapuri in connection with the same case.

Continuing the investigation into the car bomb blast, a Delhi court on Monday sent Aamir Rashid Ali, a Kashmiri resident accused of conspiring with alleged suicide bomber Dr Omar Muhammad Nabi to carry out the November 10 terror attack, to 10-day NIA custody. Ali’s arrest came during a massive search operation launched after the NIA took over control of the case from Delhi Police on November 16. Authorities confirmed that the car used in the attack was registered in Ali’s name.

According to preliminary findings of the NIA, Ali, a resident of Sambura in Pampore, Jammu and Kashmir, conspired with Umar Nabi to carry out the attack. Investigators said Ali traveled to Delhi to assist in purchasing the vehicle and later converted it into the vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (IED) used in the blast.

Later on Monday, the agency arrested another key associate who had allegedly provided technical support to the terrorists involved. Jasir Bilal Wani, also known as Danish and a resident of Kashmir, was arrested by the NIA team in Srinagar under case RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI. According to officials, Wani allegedly assisted the module by modifying drones and attempting to develop rockets, offering technical expertise before the deadly car bomb blast.

More revelations have emerged about the “white collar” terrorist module exposed in Faridabad. According to an NDTV report quoting investigative sources, the group relied heavily on Telegram and used an unusual vocabulary of food-based code words to conceal their communications.

The four arrested doctors – whose medical licenses have been revoked – used the names of everyday dishes as coded references to explosives and planned attacks. In their encrypted chats, “biriyani” meant explosive material, while “daawat” meant an imminent operation. Investigators said that when an IED was ready, the group alerted each other with the message: “Biryani is ready, get ready to feast.”

The module reportedly included Muzammil Shakeel, Dr. Omar Muhammad Nabi, Dr. Shaheen Saeed and Dr. Adeel Ahmed Rather. His radicalization is believed to have begun under Shopian Imam Irfan Ahmed, who was identified by investigators as the mastermind. Ahmed reportedly met Dr. Omar for the first time in 2020 during the treatment of his child at a hospital in Srinagar. This initial meeting led to continued contact, which ultimately contributed to Dr. Omar’s radicalization.

Once assured of Dr. Omar’s loyalty, Ahmed instructed him to recruit others who showed “potential”. The group was later taken to meet Jaish-e-Mohammed operatives in South Kashmir, where they found two AK-series assault rifles – both of which have been recovered, one from the vehicle of Dr Shaheen Saeed.

Saeed has told investigators that she met the others about six months before the Red Fort blast and claims she was unaware of the group’s true objectives.

Their names have now been removed from both the Indian Medical Register and the National Medical Register, effectively barring them from practicing medicine in India.
