Bengaluru, Nov 11 (IANS) Security has been beefed up in major public places and important establishments in Bengaluru and Karnataka’s coastal Karwar district following the car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday. Security has been increased at railway stations, bus terminals, airports, metro stations, shopping malls, business centers and other important institutions. Bengaluru City Police has declared high alert in the entire city as a precautionary measure. Officials have been instructed to keep strict vigil and continuously monitor. To strengthen security preparations, barricades have been installed on major roads and vehicles are being thoroughly checked since Monday midnight. Additional police personnel have been deployed to detect and verify any suspicious persons or activities. Immediately after the Delhi blast, Bengaluru City Police urged the public to remain calm, cooperate with security personnel during the investigation and report any unusual or suspicious activity immediately. High alert has also been declared in Karwar district, where major defense establishments are located, as well as around Kadamba Naval Base and Kaiga Atomic Power Station in Karnataka. Security personnel are checking every vehicle entering the district from Goa, Bhatkal and Ramanagara. Superintendent of Police MN Deepan has intensified patrolling in sensitive areas. Police teams have visited and inspected various key places in the district including Karwar port, railway station and bus stand. Dipan personally inspected the premises of Crims Hospital and port area of Karwar. Bomb and dog squad teams have also been instructed to conduct security checks at railway stations, ports, bus stands and other sensitive places. Instructions have been issued to inspect vehicles entering the district from Goa – including Majali in Karwar and Anmod in Ramanagara taluk. Mangaluru International Airport authorities on Tuesday issued a passenger advisory stating, “Passenger screening protocols have been enhanced for departing passengers at Mangaluru Airport.” Airport officials said, “Passengers are advised to arrive before their scheduled departure and cooperate with security personnel for the screening process.
