Nadia, November 16 (IANS) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is interrogating a West Bengal resident currently lodged in the Presidency jail in the Delhi car blast attack case. Sources gave this information on Sunday.
Sabir Ahmed, resident of Bara Naldaha of Palashipara in Nadia district of West Bengal, is lodged in Presidency Jail under the Anti-Narcotics Act.
According to sources, under the instructions of the state and the Centre, security officials are repeatedly interrogating Ahmed in the jail.
Along with this, his brother Faisal Ahmed was also taken into custody by the Special Task Force on Thursday night for questioning in connection with the terrorist network.
Authorities have intensified their investigation into the terror network after the deadly attack near Delhi’s Red Fort metro station on November 10, which left at least 12 people dead and several others injured.
Earlier, investigating officials found that the driver of the Hyundai i20 car which exploded near the metro station had received Rs 20 lakh through illegal financial channels.
The car exploded near a traffic signal on Netaji Subhash Marg, close to Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort metro station. Dr. Omar Mohammed was driving this car at the time of the blast, which has been confirmed by DNA testing.
The attack came hours after investigators in Haryana’s Faridabad seized 2,900 kg of explosives, including ammonium nitrate, from a location about 50 km from the national capital.
Security agencies are now investigating the financial links of Dr. Omar, Dr. Muzammil and Dr. Shaheen, another woman doctor accused in the terror module case.
According to sources, Muzammil told officials that the doctors had received Rs 20 lakh, which is suspected to have come from a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) handler who had delivered it to the doctors through hawala.
It has also been revealed that there was a dispute between Umar and Shaheen regarding money.
Sources said that the police have detained several hawala dealers for questioning.
About three lakh rupees were spent in purchasing fertilizer.
While raiding several locations in Faridabad linked to the terror network, officials seized a large quantity of ammonium nitrate, which is used as fertilizer as well as raw material in explosives and is used in terrorist attacks and major accidents.
The Delhi blasts are being described as a “white-collar terror module”, comprising many trained medical professionals with ties to Jammu and Kashmir.
A police officer confirmed that teams from the Special Cell, National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other units have completed several rounds of investigation at the spot, collecting over 40 samples as part of the investigation.
Investigation is going on.
