Delhi: 5,000 names join Youth Marathon to fight against drugs

New Delhi, September 21 (IANS) around 5,000 youths participated in NAMO youth at the Delhi University Sports Complex on Sunday as part of the drug-free India campaign to spread awareness against drug abuse.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, while sharing details about the program organized by Delhi BJP Yuva Morch, said, “On this occasion, all the youth were pledged for drug-free India.”

He also posted a message on X and said, “Chief Minister Mr. @narendramodi Ji participated in the #namoyuvarun marathon held at Delhi University Rugby Ground as part of the birthday.”

“Through this run, all the youth were pledged for drug-free India. On this occasion, the General Secretary of the state organization, Mr. @Pavanranarsji, the state’s co-interstate Mrs.s.

A BJP leader said that the brand Ambassador Padma Shri Sudha Singh led the marathon held at the Ragby Stadium Sports Complex of Delhi University.

On ‘Namo Yuva Run’, Union Minister Raj Bhushan Chaudhary said, “Through this marathon, our aim is to free India from obesity and addiction, so that the younger generation can contribute to the creation of a watched India in the future.”

A BJP leader said that the run was being organized under the ‘Seva Pakhwar’ being celebrated by the party from the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 17 September for the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2 October.

He said that Namo Yuva Runs were being organized to educate the youth against drug addiction across the country.

Earlier, announcing the run, New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj said, “PM Modi is a source of inspiration for 140 crore Indians, and he knows that the youth is the future of the country.”

He said that PM lays a strong foundation to achieve a developed India, and today, we do not only talk about youth empowerment, but we talk about strengthening the country under the leadership of youth.

Padma Shri Gold Medalist Athlete Sudha Singh had earlier said that marathon is a special campaign to free youth from drug addiction.

Singh said, “We will request all that if there is a child or youth in your house, who is addicted to drugs, explain to him, because if a young man in the family is a addict, his whole family becomes weak,” Singh said.
