New Delhi, Nov 18 (IANS) The Saras Mandap, set up in Halls 8, 9 and 10, has become the center of attraction at the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF), currently underway at the Bharat Mandapam in the capital.
This is due to the showcase of a wide range of products prepared by Lakhpati Didis from different states who have written their own success stories with hard work and skill.
About 300 Lakhpati Didis are showcasing unique products of their respective states at about 150 stalls in Saras Mandap. The most striking feature of the pavilion is the presence of artefacts, handlooms and other products made by women.
The Saras Mandap has various stalls showcasing products from 31 states and union territories, showcasing a “Mini India” showcasing the rich culture, art and traditions of each state.
All the Lakhpati Didis expressed gratitude to the government for the support which helped them become empowered and self-reliant.
Alisha from Meghalaya said that the Lakhpati Didi scheme has given her a big opportunity to move forward and become self-reliant.
Nirmala Ben of Gujarat said that IITF is a big opportunity for her.
Sharing her experience at IITF 2025, she said, “I have become a millionaire. Now I am preparing to become a millionaire didi.”
Mispi Salha, a representative from Nagaland, said that she had the art to make the product but lacked access to the market and was now exploring the real potential.
“We make a lot of things, but we don’t get the right links to sell them. After coming here, we realized how much demand there is for our products,” he said.
Lakhpati Didi and stall owner Monila have come from Assam with their handloom products.
He said that not only him but his entire team will benefit from this opportunity. Such events give us a chance to showcase our talent at the national level.
Millionaire Didi Babita Bhandari, who was extremely impressed by the trade fair, said that it is increasing the confidence and respect of many sisters like her.
