The Defense Ministry on November 28 signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) with the US government for continued support of MH60R helicopters to the Indian Navy under the Foreign Military Sales Programme. Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh was present at the ceremony in New Delhi.

The five-year agreement, valued at approximately ₹7,995 crore, covers follow on support and follow on supply support.

Continuing support includes “provision of spares, accessories, product support, training and technical support, repair and replenishment of components and establishment of ‘intermediate’ level component repair and periodic maintenance inspection facilities in India,” the ministry said.

This initiative will strengthen indigenous capacity, reduce dependence on the US, and promote development of products and services through MSMEs and Indian firms in line with the vision of self-reliant India.

From an operational perspective, the deal is expected to enhance the availability and maintenance of all-weather MH60R helicopters that possess anti-submarine warfare capabilities, enabling them to operate from dispersed locations and ships while efficiently executing all primary and secondary missions.
