New Delhi, September 30 (IANS) As part of the initiative of reforms of the Ministry of Defense, Defense Estates Organization (DEO) has introduced measures to strengthen efficiency, transparency and institutional capacity, an official said on Tuesday.
During this period, the DEO implemented advanced digitization, land management reforms, carried forward the civil-focused welfare initiative, and strengthened infrastructure, which reflects the ministry’s commitment to modernizing defense administration, in a statement.
An official said that on Wednesday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is ready to start a series of new publications, aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of the controller of defense accounts and promoting modernization and transparency.
He will also participate in the 278th Annual Day celebrations of the Defense Accounts Department in New Delhi.
Meanwhile, the Defense Estates Organization (DEO) has collaborated with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, which is to expand social welfare schemes in drug addiction, including drug addiction Mukta Bharat Abhiyan, Namaste, and Atal Yo Abhayudi Yojana, enhancing the welfare ecosystem for the residents.
A major milestone was a special land audit report for the North Eastern Region, covering around 50,000 acres of army occupied land in eight states including Sikkim, which improved transparency and accountability in defense land management.
In the administrative side, DG Shailendra Nath Gupta implemented cadre reforms as per the instructions of the ministry, including the revised recruitment rules, cadre restructuring, and three departmental promotion committees (DPCs), which ensure timely promotion, stated in the statement.
The expansion of infrastructure included foundation stones for the inauguration of the Udampur campus, strengthening foundation stones and modern institutional features for new complexes in Chandigarh, Guwahati and Western Command (Major Directorates).
The DEO’s vision for the future was exposed during the ‘Manthan 2025’ conference, which was inaugurated by the Defense Minister, which focused on the carbon-neutral cantonment, technology-driven land management, institutional reforms and civil-focused governance, charted a roadmap towards Vikasit Bharat @ 2047.
At Gupta’s supernation, the Ministry of Defense and DEO welcomed their impressive tenure, which strengthened institutional foundations, launched historical reforms, and reinforced the DEO’s role as a modern, skilled and civil-centered organization, stating in the statement.
