Death was required by “our religion”: Afghan court on public execution

Arun Jain, 12/04/2025

Kabul:

The Afghanistan’s Supreme Court on Saturday rejected the condemnation of the Taliban by the United Nations of the UN condemnation, a day later four convicted killers were publicly killed.

According to an AFP Tally, since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021, on Friday, three provinces were brought to the sports stadiums in front of a large crowd.

The law and order is central for the serious ideology of the Taliban and public execution was common during its first rule from 1996 to 2001.

Supreme Court spokesman Abdul Rahim Rashid said that “vengeance” was “Sharia (Islamic Law), reliable witnesses and assessments by the killers based on clear and clear orders of acceptance”.

He said the “unfair and surprising” statement, condemning the condemnation of the execution of the United Nations Human Rights Office as “originally irreversible” with the right to human dignity and life.

He said that the executed men had “destroyed innocent life” and their deaths needed “our religion, our Sharia system and our people demand”.

“Islam is just a religion and we are obliged to follow it, no outsider has the right to interfere with our Sharia law, religion and justice.”

The United Nations had expressed displeasure over the execution of Badgis, Nimroz and four men in the western provinces – most in a day since 2021 – saying that it was “waste”.

On the social media platform X, “We urge the real authorities in Afghanistan to stop the use of death punishment, eventually,” from the point of view of ending it, “said on the social media platform X.
