“They were taking away food from him to such an extent that he lost several pounds in a week,” Meyer said. “And then on top of that, they start videoing her – several staff members are filming her in the nude on their personal cellphones. I can’t think of a more horrific form of abuse than what we’re seeing here.”

According to lawyers, the student’s mother became suspicious that something was wrong when the child started expressing fear before going to school.

Michael said the schools displayed a “history of educational neglect” in their dealings with the student.

“That means they’re not teaching this child what they’re supposed to be teaching, not teaching them to communicate, not teaching them functional skills – and this has gone on over two or three years.”

school District The following statement was offered in response to the lawsuit:

“If the family is willing to release the full amount of information that allows the district to discuss the circumstances surrounding these allegations, we would welcome the opportunity to provide our details and the relevant facts of this case. We are committed to the safety, dignity, and education of all students in our care.”

The lawsuit seeks compensation for the alleged physical, emotional and psychological trauma suffered by the student and his mother.

According to the family’s attorneys, the student has been withdrawn from the school district and has likely passed the window to develop some social and communication skills relative to his disabilities.
